The adidas "4DFWD" shoe, which has a special 3D-printed structure embedded in the midsole, has the function of converting stepping force into propulsive force. This article interprets this function as a mechanical metamaterial that converts compression into shear and explains how to design it. This article explains the macro physical properties that convert compression into shear from the viewpoint of material mechanics.

修士課程修了後、Nature Architectsに取締役Chief Research Officerとして参画。Nature Architectsの研究開発をリードすると共に、顧客の前面に立ちプロジェクトの推進から新規案件の獲得まで幅広く貢献。
Graduated from Tohoku University (B.S.) and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (M.S.) of the University of Tokyo. Currently engaged in research on origami engineering and computational origami in the doctoral course of the same department, and developed "Crane", a product design computational tool using origami technology, with Tanimichi in the Mitoh Project in 2018. 2017 joined Nature Architects as a founding member. Engaged in research and development as Chief Research Officer (CRO). Winner of the Software Japan Award 2024.
